I am a stay-at-home-mother of 6, ages 7, 6, 5, 3, almost 2, and 3 months. We live on a good chunk of land out in the country with our cows, our chickens, cats, dogs, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents! My husband is a full-time fireman. We homeschool and are working towards our life goal of homesteading 100% of the time.
Our family has been using essential oils for over 8 years now! They've been an amazing part of our Whole Health Journey and I wanted to share with you how we got started, and why we are now with Young Living.
We had our first child 7 1/2 years ago. While pregnant, we started searching for a pediatrician that would work well for our family. We met with several popular and highly recommended clinics in our local area. We were young parents (21 and 22 years old) and didn't know a whole lot about anything! I had one particular thing that I was hesitant about allowing to be done to my daughter. Just one.
While touring and interviewing with the most highly recommended pediatrics clinic on our list, we were suddenly blind sided by the doctors at the end of our meeting. We were told that we had to sign an agreement to do every thing the physician recommended and that the state recommended in regard to our daughter or be dismissed from their practice! We tried to say, "but what if...?" and "we could sign a refusal form..." but to no avail.
We walked out of that clinic that day and never went back. It wasn't about the specific required treatment to us then; it was about Parental Rights. We were being refused our parental rights to our child.
After I got over my initial response of anger, I decided it was time! It was time to do my research, learn for myself all the ins and outs of WHY we made the medical decisions we did. I was done taking people's word for it. I have God-given rights as the parent of my child and I knew I needed to have the proper information to fulfill that responsibility to the best of my ability!
That quickly led me to essential oils. I found that they could be used to support our WHOLE health, not just one aspect. I discovered that they were reliable and effective! I figured out that they were much cheaper in helping keep my family well than treatment of illness would be if we were to live a lifestyle that promoted UNhealth.
I began my essential oil journey with a company NOT Young Living. I spent years with this other company and LOVED my oils! I learned so much about how they worked, what I liked about them, how to use them most effectively for me and my family.
After almost 6 years, I decided that I wanted more. I wanted a wider range of options when it came to oils and healthy living products. Our family has grown so much in our pursuit of whole health! We've learned so many wonderful things! It's an ever-growing subject, though. There's always more information out there. More subjects to explore.
Young Living has been a great source that has allowed me to expand my Whole Health Journey to something beyond my original pursuit of little changes here and there. We've jumped into this thing head first and are so excited about making major changes in our lives that will change the direction of our family's health as a whole and benefit so many others! The fact that YL has hundreds of oils and oil blends was a HUGE attraction! As well as all of the amazing home products like home cleaners, laundry detergents, dish care, bath products, make-up (what?!?! A post for another day...), a baby care line, a kids care line, dietary and nutritional supplements, and more! And new things coming all the time! Young Living has figured out that our whole health doesn't stop with topical application and diffusion of essential oils! There's so much more!
Some of the changes our family has made/is making slowly over the past several years:
*all organic/non-GMO in our diet (with some cheats, y'all, we aren't perfect! ...everything in moderation, right?!)
*chemical-free, non-toxic cleaning products
*all natural and 100% pure support for our health and wellness
*and the changes keep coming...!
Of course, these things have had an effect on our budget. But after so much research, we've decided that our health and wellness is of top priority to us! (Directly under our spiritual walk with our Savior, of course!) We want the best for our children, and we've come to the conclusion that health-wise, this is it! Keep learning, keep growing, keep changing for the better! So the financial side is: we've had to rearrange some of our monetary priorities to be able to afford some of this stuff (all organic food in a single-income home?! $$$$ YIKES!) but we truly believe it will be worth the sacrifice.
We can't always change everything all at once, either! It is expensive! We live off of a fireman's income. We have to work things in when we can afford them! But I'm attempting to "ditch-and-switch" one item every month until I am satisfied that all the items in our home are working FOR our Whole Body Health instead of AGAINST it.
Young Living is a HUGE part of this transformation. Because of their seed-to-seal promise and their history of faithfulness and honesty, I feel confident placing my trust in them for the products my family needs.
